BMW motorcycle front struts can fail causing loss of stability

BMW is recalling certain 2024 R 1250RT, K 1600GT, K 1600GTL and K 1600B motorcycles because an incorrectly manufactured proportional valve in the front spring strut can loosen and cause strut failure.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: Rubric level 4 covers structural vehicle defects: failure of a front suspension strut on a motorcycle is a structural failure of a safety-critical component, remedied by replacing the struts.

BMW of North America, LLC is recalling certain 2024 R 1250RT, K 1600GT, K 1600GTL and K 1600B motorcycles. About 191 units are potentially affected.
