What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (electrical system) that can cause loss of critical safety functions and presents an increased risk of fire, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.
Plain-English summary
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC is recalling 31,848 vehicles, including 2023-2024 C300, S580, Maybach S580, and AMG EQS models, due to a defect in the electrical system. The 80-Amp fuses in these vehicles may have been manufactured incorrectly, which can cause them to fail.
A failed 80-Amp fuse can result in a sudden loss of drive power or the loss of critical safety functions, such as restraint systems or the instrument cluster. This failure increases the risk of a crash or injury and also presents an increased risk of a fire.
Dealers will replace the main fuse boxes free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on April 5, 2024. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
