The pedestal mounting plate on seat assemblies may be improperly welded, which can cause the mounting plate to separate and the seat assembly to loosen or detach from the motorhome. These seat assemblies do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) numbers 207 and 210, which regulate seating systems and seat belt assembly anchorages.

A loose or detached seat assembly increases the risk of injury to motorhome occupants.

The recall affects an estimated 160 motorhomes. Owners should contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 for information. Dealers will inspect for the weld defect and replace the pedestal as necessary at no cost to owners. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 31, 2024.
