Prevost Bus Wheelchair Lift Warning Beacon May Be Insufficiently Bright

Prevost is recalling certain H3-41, H3-45, X3-45, and X3-45 Commuter vehicles from 2012–2024. The red warning beacon on the wheelchair lift may not be bright enough, potentially making the lift less visible to users.

Prevost Car (US) Inc. is recalling certain Prevost H3-41, H3-45, X3-45, and X3-45 Commuter vehicles from model years 2012–2024 that are equipped with Threshold Warning System (TWS) wheelchair lifts. The red beacon light on the platform lift system may not provide sufficient illumination.

These beacons are required by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 403 to warn users when the lift is being deployed or in use. If the beacons are too dim, wheelchair users may not see them clearly, increasing the risk of falls or other injuries when boarding or exiting the lift.

Approximately 2,100 vehicles are affected. Prevost will replace the red beacons at no cost. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 16, 2024. Owners should contact Prevost customer service at 1-866-870-2046 (reference number SR24-03) to schedule replacement.
