2023 Jaguar I-PACE vehicles recalled for battery fire risk
Jaguar is recalling 2019-2023 I-PACE vehicles due to battery overheating risk from an incomplete prior repair. Owners must park and charge outside until the software update is installed and for 30 days after.
NHTSA safety advisory
Park this vehicle outside
NHTSA advises parking it away from buildings and other vehicles until the repair is done — the risk exists even when the vehicle is switched off.
This is the agency’s own advisory, not our assessment. Contact the manufacturer or a dealer, and see the official NHTSA notice for the current guidance.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall addresses a defect in the high-voltage battery system that could result in fire. However, no deaths, injuries, or fires have been reported. The precautionary measure of parking vehicles outside indicates the hazard is potential rather than confirmed, placing this in the risk-of-harm category without reported incidents.
