2023 Porsche Taycan battery sealant defect increases fire risk

Porsche is recalling 2023 Taycan vehicles with high-voltage batteries that may have insufficient sealant, allowing liquid accumulation that can cause electrical arcing and fire risk. Dealers will test and replace batteries free of charge.

The high-voltage battery in these vehicles may have an insufficient amount of sealant. This deficiency can allow liquid to accumulate inside the battery, which can cause electrical arcing and increase the risk of fire.

Owners should contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243 to arrange service. Porsche's recall number for this issue is APB2. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.nhtsa.gov.

Dealers will test the battery for leakage and replace the battery as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were expected to be mailed October 31, 2023.
