Roadtrek is recalling certain 2021-2022 recreational vehicles equipped with SDS2 2-burner cooktops because internal burner tubes may fracture and leak gas, creating a fire hazard.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: This is a structural defect in a recreational vehicle appliance with potential for fire, fitting the rubric criterion for risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported. No deaths, serious injuries, or actual fires have been reported.
Plain-English summary
Roadtrek Inc. is recalling certain 2021-2022 model year recreational vehicles equipped with SDS2 2-burner drop-in cooktops. The internal aluminum burner tubes that connect to the gas valves may fracture.
A fractured burner tube can cause a gas leak. In the presence of an ignition source, a gas leak increases the risk of fire.
The recall affects 54 recreational vehicles across multiple Roadtrek models, including the Zion, Chase, Zion Slumber, Play, Play Slumber, Zion SRT, and Play SRT. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 8, 2023.
Consumers should contact Roadtrek customer service at 1-888-762-3873 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236. For sold units, dealers will inspect the burner tubes and repair or replace the cooktop as necessary at no cost.
