Plain-English summary
Hyundai Motor America is recalling certain 2022 Hyundai Elantra N vehicles, along with 2021-2022 Santa Fe and Sonata models, 2021-2022 Veloster N models, 2022 Santa Cruz, and 2022 Kona N models. The vehicles have a transmission oil pump malfunction that can impair the "fail-safe" limited-mobility drive mode.
When this malfunction occurs, the vehicle can lose complete drive power while driving. This significantly increases the risk of a crash.
Owners should contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 to schedule service. Dealers will inspect and replace the transmission as necessary and update the transmission control unit software.
