What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: A structural vehicle defect involving improper windshield bonding that could result in detachment during a crash qualifies as Severe under the rubric for structural vehicle defects, even without reported injuries, due to the significant risk of occupant harm.

Plain-English summary

Hyundai Motor America is recalling certain 2020-2021 Santa Fe, 2021 Sonata, and 2021 Elantra vehicles due to a manufacturing defect in windshield bonding. During manufacturing, the windshield may not have been properly bonded to the vehicle, which could allow it to detach during a crash and increase the risk of injury to occupants.
