Hyundai recalls multiple vehicles for oil pump controller fire risk

Hyundai is recalling 2023-2024 Palisade and Tucson vehicles, plus 2023 Sonata, Elantra, and Kona models for defective oil pump controllers that may overheat and increase fire risk. Owners should park outside until repairs are complete.

Hyundai Motor America is recalling certain 2023-2024 Hyundai Palisade and Tucson models, as well as 2023 Sonata, Elantra, and Kona vehicles. The electronic controller for the Idle Stop & Go oil pump assembly may contain damaged electrical components that can cause the pump to overheat.

An overheating electric oil pump assembly increases the risk of a vehicle fire. Because of this hazard, Hyundai advises owners to park their vehicles outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete.

Dealers will inspect and replace the electric oil pump controller free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed starting September 7, 2023. The recall affects an estimated 52,109 vehicles.
