Plain-English summary
Hyundai Motor America is recalling certain 2023-2024 Hyundai Palisade and Tucson models, as well as 2023 Sonata, Elantra, and Kona vehicles. The electronic controller for the Idle Stop & Go oil pump assembly may contain damaged electrical components that can cause the pump to overheat.
An overheating electric oil pump assembly increases the risk of a vehicle fire. Because of this hazard, Hyundai advises owners to park their vehicles outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete.
Dealers will inspect and replace the electric oil pump controller free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed starting September 7, 2023. Affected owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 for more information regarding this recall.
