Plain-English summary
BMW of North America, LLC is recalling certain 2023 BMW X7 vehicles, including xDrive40i and M60i models. In certain vehicle operating conditions, only one of the two front parking lights may remain illuminated.
This defect causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, which governs lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment. A loss of illumination from one of the parking lights can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will reprogram the electronic control unit for the front parking lights at no charge to remedy the defect. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 18, 2022. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information.
