Pleasure Way Plateau motorhomes recalled for electrical circuit fire hazard

Pleasure Way recalls 2021-2022 Plateau motorhomes due to a mislabeled electrical circuit that can overload, causing wiring to overheat and creating a fire risk.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: No deaths or injuries reported; however, this is a design defect with genuine fire risk. Mislabeled circuit board creates realistic overload hazard that can cause wiring damage and fire, affecting 225 motorhomes.

Plain-English summary

Pleasure Way Industries is recalling certain 2021-2022 Plateau TS motorhomes. The DCF 4 circuit board in these vehicles is labeled for 30 amps, but the fuse holder pins are rated for only 20 amps. This mismatch can cause the circuit to overload, leading to overheating or melting of wiring.

The primary concern is a potential fire hazard. Overheating or melting wiring increases the risk of electrical fires in the motorhome.

Affected owners should contact Pleasure Way customer service at 1-800-364-0189 to schedule a free repair. Dealers will install a dedicated fused relay for the fridge and relabel the circuit board. Owner notification letters were mailed on August 17, 2022. Owners can also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 1-888-327-4236 or visit www.nhtsa.gov for more information.
