2021-2022 Mack trucks recalled for defective steering gears

Mack Trucks, Inc. is recalling certain 2021-2022 tractor trailers (Granite, Anthem, LR, Pinnacle, and Terrapro models). The steering gears in these vehicles may have been assembled incorrectly.

An incorrectly assembled steering gear can fracture. A fractured steering gear can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Affected vehicle owners should contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack's recall number is SC0437. Dealers will replace the steering gear free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 29, 2022. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
