The plexus adhesive securing the torque limiter plate to the bus body may be insufficient, causing the bolts that secure the steering gearbox to loosen. A loose steering gearbox can cause loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall affects 724 buses with various configurations, including 35-foot and 40-foot models. Owner notification letters were mailed October 7, 2022.
Dealers will install mechanical fasteners, new bolts on the steering gearbox, and a new torque plate as necessary, free of charge.
