Tesla, Inc. is recalling certain 2021 Model S vehicles equipped with exterior side rearview mirrors (part numbers 1622232-00-B and 1622233-00-B). The driver-side mirrors feature convex (curved) glass, and the passenger-side mirrors do not include the required "Objects in Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear" warning etching. These mirrors do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111 regarding rear visibility.

The defect may cause drivers to misjudge the distance of other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash.

Approximately 53 vehicles are affected by this recall. Tesla Service will replace the mirrors free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on December 31, 2022.
