Motorhome Recall: Faulty Generator Regulator in 2020-2021 Roadtrek Models
Roadtrek is recalling 2020-2021 Zion and Play motorhomes due to a faulty generator regulator that may damage the battery and cause electrical system failure. This creates a risk of injury from battery cap detachment or acid spill.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall addresses a potential hazard—battery damage and electrical system failure with risk of acid spill—but the source reports no injuries or deaths. Per the rubric, a risk-of-harm product without reported injuries scores at most 3.
Plain-English summary
Roadtrek Inc. is recalling certain 2020-2021 Zion, Zion SRT, and Play motorhomes. The undermount generator that charges the AGM house batteries contains a faulty internal regulator that may damage the batteries and cause electrical system failure. Approximately 70 vehicles are affected.
When an AGM battery is damaged, the battery caps can detach. If a damaged battery is replaced with a lead-acid battery, an acid spill can result. Both scenarios increase the risk of injury.
Dealers will inspect and replace the undermount AGM generator at no charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 26, 2021. Owners should contact Roadtrek customer service at 1-888-762-3873 to schedule service or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 for more information.
