Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain 2021 FCCC Custom Chassis models (MBC, MC, S2, MT55), 2021 Freightliner Business Class M2 trucks, and 2022 Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2 vehicles. The hydraulic brake system tie bar fasteners on the steer axles may not have been properly tightened during manufacturing, or the tie bar may not have been installed.

The tie bar fasteners could be loose or missing, which may allow the tie bar to dangle. A dangling tie bar could contact rotating wheel-end components or cause brake parts to flex and sustain damage. Either situation may increase the risk of a crash.

Approximately 80 vehicles are affected. DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect both steer axle wheel-ends to ensure the four tie bar mounting fasteners are properly tightened. If the tie bar is missing, the caliper anchor mounts and functionality will be inspected before installation. All repairs are free of charge, with the recall beginning February 18, 2021.
