Plain-English summary
Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2021 Audi A6 Allroad, Q7, RS6, and RS7 vehicles. The electrical connector on the crash sensor in either front door can detach from the sensor, which is used to detect side-impact events.
When the connector detaches, it can delay the activation of restraint systems, including side airbags, curtain airbags, and seat-belt pretensioners. This delay in restraint activation during a side-impact crash increases the risk of occupant injury.
Audi will notify owners of the recall. Dealers will inspect both front door crash sensors at no cost and replace them as necessary. The recall began December 23, 2020. Owners can contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834 or call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).
