The recall addresses a defect where the 12-volt isolator post located behind the driver's seat may develop high resistance. This high-resistance electrical connection can result in overheating, which increases the risk of a fire while the vehicle is on or off.

The recall began on July 30, 2020. FCA US LLC will notify owners, and dealers will perform an interim inspection of the affected joint. If the inspection indicates the joint is compromised, owners will receive a loaner vehicle until a final remedy is developed. The final corrective action involves increasing the torque and installing a waterproof gasket to the 12-volt isolator post, along with inspecting the post for contamination. If the post is compromised, it and the associated cables will be replaced.

Until the final repair is completed, consumers are advised to exercise specific precautions. Owners should not park these vehicles inside buildings or structures, or near other vehicles. Additionally, owners should keep liquids out of the backseat area, including beverages, wet items, umbrellas, or bottled liquids that may leak.
