Plain-English summary
Volvo Trucks North America is recalling certain 2015 VNL vehicles equipped with Meritor FF967 Non-Drive Front Steer axles. The recall involves 20 vehicles in total.
The defect is caused by the axles missing the heat treating operation during manufacturing. This reduces the strength of the axles and may cause the axle beams to fracture. A fracture of the axle beam can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Volvo Trucks will notify affected vehicle owners. Dealers will inspect and replace the axles as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on September 27, 2019. Owners may contact Meritor customer service at 1-800-528-6586 or Volvo Trucks' recall number RVXX1905.
