What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product where incorrect headlight aiming decreases visibility and increases the risk of a crash, but no specific injuries or fatalities are reported in the source text.

Plain-English summary

Truck-Lite Company, LLC is recalling certain right-hand incandescent halogen headlights installed on 2016-2019 Navistar International LT-series trucks. The affected parts include Truck-Lite part numbers 27628C and 27628C7, and Navistar part numbers 4049970C91, 4049970C92, 4049970C93, and 4049970C94.

The recall is necessary because the headlights may have incorrect "VOL" markings instead of the required "VOR" markings. Although the headlights are correctly designed for visual and optical aiming, the incorrect markings may cause them to be aimed incorrectly during replacement. This error decreases visibility and increases the risk of a crash, causing the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108.

Truck-Lite will notify owners and send them a "DOT VOR" label to install free of charge. The recall began on November 26, 2018. Owners may contact the International Trucks Customer Service Center at 1-800-448-7825 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
