Meritor Trailer Axle Brake Caliper Bolt Recall

Meritor, Inc. is recalling certain trailer axles and MPA/MTA suspensions equipped with Meritor EX225 brakes. The recall involves 1,336 affected units.

The brake caliper bolts on these axles may not be properly torqued, which can allow the caliper to detach from the mounting flange. If this occurs, a loss of braking ability would result, increasing the risk of a crash. These vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, "Air Brake System."

Meritor will notify the vehicle manufacturers that purchased the axles or suspensions. Dealers for those manufacturers will inspect the bolts and replace any loose or missing ones free of charge.
