These vehicles are equipped with Takata PSPI-LD front passenger air bag inflators that may have been manufactured without ignition booster tablets.
The defect causes the air bag to fail to fully inflate during the primary stage of deployment in a crash. This improper inflation increases the risk of injury to the passenger and means the vehicles do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
