Plain-English summary
Ford Motor Company is recalling certain model year 2017 Lincoln Continental vehicles manufactured between June 14, 2016, and September 23, 2016. These vehicles are equipped with high intensity discharge (HID) headlights that may have been built with incorrect lenses. The defect causes the headlights to fail compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108 regarding lamps and reflective devices.
The incorrect lenses adversely affect turn signal visibility and are not properly marked. Reduced turn signal visibility to other drivers and pedestrians can increase the risk of a crash. The recall affects 1,827 vehicles.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the headlights, replacing them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on November 16, 2016. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
