Eldorado E-Z Rider II Transit Bus Recall for Tire Clearance Issue
Eldorado is recalling 2016 E-Z Rider II transit buses because front steel rims may allow tires to contact tie-rods, risking sudden air loss and crashes.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect where tire contact with tie-rods can cause sudden air loss, explicitly increasing the risk of a crash.
Plain-English summary
Eldorado National-California, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2016 E-Z Rider II transit buses manufactured between March 1, 2016, and July 31, 2016. The affected vehicles are equipped with front steel rims that may allow the inside sidewall of the front tires to contact the outer end of the front tie-rods due to insufficient clearance.
If the tie-rods contact the front tires, the tires may be damaged and suddenly lose air, increasing the risk of a crash. Eldorado National has notified the owners, and dealers will replace the steel wheels with ones that provide adequate clearance, free of charge. The recall began on August 10, 2016.
Owners may contact Eldorado National customer service at 1-909-591-9557. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
