Harley-Davidson Motor Company is recalling certain 2018-2024 Softail motorcycles equipped with specific Tail Rear Shock Absorbers or Low Rear Suspension Shock Absorbers. The recall addresses a defect where the mounting tab on the rear shock pre-load adjuster may break. If this occurs, the adjuster can damage the rear tire, leading to a loss of tire pressure.
A sudden loss of tire pressure increases the risk of a crash. The affected parts are identified by part numbers 54000294 and 54000134.
Dealers will install a new bracket to correct the issue free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 24, 2025. Owners may contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464 for more information. Harley-Davidson's recall number is 0189.
