Eldorado Axess, XHF, and E-Z Rider II Recalled for Engine Fire Risk

Eldorado is recalling 2007-2015 Axess, XHF, and E-Z Rider II vehicles because a vent tube defect may allow engine oil to contact hot surfaces, increasing fire risk.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (vent tube detachment) that creates an increased risk of fire, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.

Plain-English summary

Eldorado National-California, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2007-2015 Axess, E-Z Rider II, and XHF vehicles manufactured between July 1, 2007, and May 2, 2015. These vehicles are equipped with certain Cummins Westport ISL G engines. The recall involves 599 units.

The defect involves excessive engine crankcase pressures that may cause the 90-degree elbow of the vent tube assembly to detach from the crankcase ventilation breather. If this occurs, engine oil may come into contact with hot surfaces, which increases the risk of a fire.

Cummins has notified owners on behalf of Eldorado. Cummins service centers will perform the repairs free of charge, which include securing the ends of the 90-degree elbow and reprogramming the electronic control module (ECM) to limit crankcase pressures. The recall began on June 16, 2015. Owners may contact Eldorado customer service at 1-909-591-9557 or Cummins customer service at 1-800-343-7357.
