VT Hackney Recalls Kidron and Hackney Trailers Due to Brake Defect

VT Hackney, Inc. is recalling certain 2014-2016 Kidron refrigerated trailers and Hackney beverage trailers manufactured between February 1, 2014, and June 1, 2016. The recall involves 360 units equipped with certain Bendix SR-5 spring brake valves.
The defect is that these valves may have been improperly machined, which can cause a delay in the application of the spring brakes while the trailer is parked. If the spring brakes are delayed, the trailer may roll away after it has decoupled from the tractor, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
VT Hackney will notify owners, and any affected SR-5 valves will be replaced by kits ordered from Bendix at no charge. The recall began on August 24, 2016, following an interim notification issued on August 10, 2016.
