Winnebago Recalls 2016 Motorhomes Due to Front Sway Bar Defect

Winnebago is recalling 2016 Forza, Journey, Itasca Solei, and Meridian motorhomes because front sway bar brackets may not fit properly, risking detachment and crashes.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (suspension component) that increases the risk of a crash, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.

Plain-English summary

Winnebago Industries, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2016 Winnebago Journey and Forza, and 2016 Itasca Solei and Meridian motor homes. The affected vehicles were manufactured between May 7, 2015, and March 25, 2016.

In these vehicles, the front sway bar mounting brackets may not fit properly on the axle, which can cause the mounting bolts to bend or loosen. If the sway bar bolts loosen, the sway bar may detach from the axle, affecting the handling and increasing the risk of a crash.

Owners will be notified by Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA), which will modify the sway bar mounting free of charge. The recall began on June 7, 2016. Owners may contact DTNA at 1-800-547-0712 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
