Plain-English summary
Winnebago Industries, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Winnebago Tour motorhomes manufactured between May 25, 2013, and November 25, 2015, and Itasca Ellipse motorhomes manufactured between May 25, 2013, and November 18, 2015. The recall involves a defect in the throttle pedal position sensor, which may fail to return to zero. This malfunction can cause the engine brake to suddenly not activate as expected, reducing the vehicle's deceleration ability.
A sudden loss of the engine brake without warning may lead to reduced braking ability, potentially increasing the risk of a crash. Daimler Trucks North America has notified owners, and dealers will replace the throttle pedal free of charge. An interim notification was distributed to owners on July 8, 2016, and the recall began on August 15, 2016.
Owners may contact the Daimler Warranty Campaign Department at 1-800-547-0712 or email [email protected]. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or visit www.safercar.gov.
