Winnebago and Itasca Motor Homes Recalled for Seat Belt Anchor Defect

Winnebago is recalling certain 2008-2011 motor homes because dinette seat belt anchors may fail in a crash, increasing injury risk.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect where seat belt anchorages may fail in a crash, posing a risk of injury or death, which aligns with the 'Severe' criteria for structural defects and significant injury reports.

Plain-English summary

Winnebago Industries, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2008 Winnebago Voyage and Itasca Sunrise, and model year 2009-2011 Winnebago Adventurer and Itasca Sun Cruiser motor homes. The recall addresses a defect in the dinette area seat belt restraints, which fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 210 regarding seat belt assembly anchorages.

In a collision, crash forces can cause the restraint's attachment to tear, allowing the anchor to separate from the vehicle body. If this occurs, the seat belt will not properly restrain the occupant, increasing the risk of injury or death.

Winnebago will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles free of charge. The safety recall began on December 17, 2010. Owners may contact Winnebago at 1-800-537-1885 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
