Winnebago Recalls Motor Homes Due to Seat Belt Anchor Defect
Winnebago is recalling 2006-2011 View and Itasca Navion motor homes because dinette seat belt anchors may fail in a crash, increasing injury risk.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect where seat belt anchorages may separate in a crash, explicitly increasing the risk of injury or death to occupants.
Plain-English summary
Winnebago Industries, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2006 through 2011 Winnebago View and Itasca Navion motor homes. The recall involves the dinette area seat belt restraints, which fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 210 regarding seat belt assembly anchorages.
In a collision, crash forces can cause the restraint's attachment to tear, allowing the anchor to separate from the vehicle body. If this occurs, the seat belt will not properly restrain the occupant, increasing the risk of injury or death.
Winnebago will add additional seat belt anchorages free of charge. The safety recall began on November 12, 2010. Owners may contact Winnebago at 1-800-537-1885 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
