Winnebago Industries, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2005 through 2009 Itasca Sunova and Winnebago Sightseer motor homes. The recall involves the dinette area seat belt restraints, which fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 210 regarding seat belt assembly anchorages.

In a collision, crash forces can cause the restraint's attachment to tear, allowing the anchor to separate from the vehicle body. If this occurs, the seat belt will not properly restrain the occupant, increasing the risk of injury or death.

Winnebago will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles free of charge. The safety recall began on December 10, 2010. Owners may contact Winnebago at 1-800-537-1885 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
