Plain-English summary
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2015 Chrysler 200 vehicles manufactured between April 7, 2014, and August 3, 2015. The recall addresses a defect in the front passenger seat where the Occupant Classification Module (OCM) or the Seat Cushion Foam (SCF) may have been replaced individually during previous service work, rather than as a complete calibrated set.
If these components were not replaced together, the occupant detection and classification system may not be properly calibrated. This can cause the passenger air bag to deploy improperly in the event of a crash, which increases the risk of injury to the occupant.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install a new OCM-SCF seat service kit free of charge. The recall began on May 27, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 for more information.
