Ford Motor Company is recalling certain model year 2016 Ford Mustang vehicles manufactured between September 26, 2015, and October 1, 2015. The front and rear seat belts and child seat tether anchors may have been damaged during shipping from the supplier to the assembly plant. As a result, these components may not adequately restrain occupants in a crash, causing the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 208 and 225.
If the restraint components do not function as intended, occupants may not be properly restrained during a crash, which increases the risk of injury. The recall affects 1,900 vehicles.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front and rear seat belt assemblies and the child seat tether anchors free of charge. The recall began on December 18, 2015. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
