Pierce Recalls 2015-2016 Models Due to Loose Front Drive Axle Hex Nuts
Pierce is recalling 2015-2016 Arrow XT, Velocity, Enforcer, and Saber vehicles because front drive axle hex nuts may be loose, risking loss of propulsion.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (loose axle nuts) that can cause loss of propulsion and increase the risk of a crash, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.
Plain-English summary
Pierce Manufacturing is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Arrow XT, Velocity, Enforcer, and Saber vehicles manufactured between November 20, 2014, and September 29, 2015. The affected vehicles are equipped with front drive axles where the hex nuts on the flange yoke may not have been properly tightened.
If the hex nuts are not tightened to specification, the driveshaft may disconnect from the drive axle. This failure results in a loss of propulsion and increases the risk of a crash.
Pierce will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the hex nuts and tighten them as necessary at no charge. The recall began on November 12, 2015. Owners may contact Pierce customer service at 1-888-974-3723 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
