What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (rear axle leaf spring spacer) that could cause a sudden shift in alignment or create road hazards, increasing the risk of a crash.
Plain-English summary
Pierce Manufacturing is recalling certain model year 2015 Saber, Enforcer, Impel, and Velocity vehicles. The affected vehicles were manufactured between December 4, 2014, and March 23, 2015. The recall involves the rear axle cast iron leaf spring spacer block, which may crack and fracture.
If the spacer block fractures, the pieces may become a road hazard. If the entire spacer block separates from the vehicle, the alignment of the rear axle may suddenly shift. Either condition could increase the risk of a crash.
Pierce will notify owners, and dealers will replace the cast iron spring spacer block with a machined steel spring spacer block, free of charge. The recall began on March 23, 2015. Owners may contact Pierce customer service at 1-888-974-3723 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
