Mack Pinnacle Trucks Recalled for Brake Chamber Mounting Defect

Mack Trucks, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Pinnacle (CXU) trucks manufactured between October 3, 2012, and February 18, 2014. These vehicles are equipped with Meritor air disc brakes. The recall affects 79 units.

In the affected vehicles, the brake chambers may have been incorrectly mounted, resulting in internal contamination of the air brake calipers. This contamination may cause a loss of brakes on one wheel, which lengthens the distance required to stop the vehicle and increases the risk of a crash.

Mack will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the disc brake caliper and brake chamber to determine if the washers are located in the correct position. If the washers are in the correct position, no further action is required. If they are not, the disc brake caliper and brake chamber will be replaced, and two washers per brake assembly will be installed, free of charge. The recall began on September 30, 2015.
