The improperly heat-treated axles may fracture, resulting in a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash. This defect poses a significant safety hazard to drivers and other road users.

Mack will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the axles for specific heat code serial numbers. The affected axles will be replaced free of charge. The recall began on August 1, 2016.
