Kalmar Recalls 2014-2015 Ottawa T2 Tractors Due to ABS Wiring Error

Kalmar is recalling 2014-2015 Ottawa T2 terminal tractors because incorrect ABS wiring can cause vehicle instability during braking, increasing crash risk.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (incorrect ABS wiring) that causes vehicle instability during braking, increasing the risk of a crash, which aligns with the 'Severe' criteria for significant injury risk.

Plain-English summary

Kalmar Solutions, LLC is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Kalmar Ottawa T2 terminal tractors manufactured between September 15, 2014, and February 10, 2015. The recall involves 52 affected vehicles.

The defect involves the wiring for the rear axle antilock brake system (ABS) components being wired incorrectly. Specifically, the left side components are connected to the right side of the ABS control module, and the right side components are connected to the left side. This reversed communication between the ABS components and the module can cause vehicle instability during braking, which increases the risk of a vehicle crash.

Kalmar will notify owners, and dealers will correct the ABS wiring free of charge. The recall was expected to begin on April 27, 2015. Owners may contact Kalmar customer service at 1-785-229-6327 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
