Kalmar Ottawa T2 Tractors Recalled for Engine Fire Risk

The defect involves excessive engine crankcase pressures that may cause the 90-degree elbow of the vent tube assembly to detach from the crankcase ventilation breather. If this occurs, engine oil may come into contact with hot surfaces, which increases the risk of a fire.

Cummins will notify owners on behalf of Kalmar. Dealers will secure the ends of the 90-degree elbow and reprogram the electronic control module (ECM) with software that adjusts engine output under misfire conditions to limit crankcase pressures.
