The defect involves improper routing of the battery ground cable, which may detach from its mounting on the transmission. This can cause excessive current to travel through the vehicle's engine harness, melting it. The melting of the engine harness may cause an electrical short and increase the risk of a fire.
Kalmar will notify owners, and dealers will replace the battery cable and correct its routing to eliminate stress on its attachment point, free of charge. The recall began on March 26, 2015.
