Kalmar Recalls 2014 Ottawa T2 Tractors Due to Fuel Filter Defect

Kalmar is recalling 276 model year 2014 Ottawa T2 terminal tractors because a fuel filter defect may cause the engine to stall without warning, increasing crash risk.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (fuel filter separation) that causes the engine to stall without warning, explicitly increasing the risk of a crash, which aligns with the 'Severe' criteria for structural defects and significant injury risk.

Plain-English summary

Kalmar Solutions, LLC is recalling certain model year 2014 Ottawa T2 terminal tractors manufactured between June 2, 2014, and July 31, 2014. The recall affects 276 vehicles equipped with Cummins ISB or ISL engines that may have Fleetguard UFF-XT fuel filters (part number FF63009).

The defect involves the fuel filter shell potentially separating from the fuel filter nut plate. This separation can cause the engine to stall without warning, which increases the risk of a crash.

Kalmar will notify owners, and Cummins service centers will replace the defective fuel filter with a non-defective one at no charge. An interim notification was issued on November 10, 2014, with the recall expected to begin in November 2014. Owners can contact Kalmar customer service at 1-785-229-6327 or Cummins customer service at 1-800-223-4583. Kalmar's recall number is C1545.
