The affected stop arms have a reflective decal that may peel loose from the stop arm, causing them to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 131, "School Bus Pedestrian Safety Devices."

Without the reflective decal, the stop arms have reduced visibility to other drivers, which increases the risk of a crash. Specialty will notify the bus manufacturers that purchased the affected stop arms, and their dealers will replace the stop arm blade assembly free of charge. The recall began on December 17, 2015.
