Nissan and Infiniti Recall Vehicles for Fuel Pressure Sensor Defect
Nissan is recalling specific 2012-2015 Nissan Juke and Infiniti models because loose fuel pressure sensors may cause fuel leaks and potential fires.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a fuel leak that could cause a vehicle fire, which aligns with the rubric criterion for 'significant injury/property-damage reports' or structural vehicle defects involving fire risk.
Plain-English summary
Nissan North America, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 Nissan Juke, 2012-2013 Infiniti M56 and QX56, and 2014-2015 Infiniti Q70 (V8 engine vehicles only) and QX80 vehicles. This recall is an expansion of a previous recall (12V-069) and affects approximately 133,592 vehicles.
The fuel pressure sensors on these vehicles may not have been sufficiently tightened during production. As a result, the sensors may loosen with vehicle usage, causing a fuel leak. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could cause a vehicle fire.
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will re-torque the fuel pressure sensors free of charge. The recall began on January 25, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
