Plain-English summary
Chrysler Group LLC is recalling certain model year 2014 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured between October 3, 2013, and April 11, 2014. The recall involves approximately 132,792 vehicles.
The recall is due to a software issue in the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) that may cause the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system to be disabled. If the ESC is disabled during certain driving situations, the driver may not be able to adequately control the vehicle, which increases the risk of a crash.
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the SCCM software free of charge. The recall began on November 24, 2014. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
