Etnyre Recalls 2012 Trailers Due to Slack Adjuster Housing Defect

E.D. Etnyre & Co. is recalling certain model year 2012 asphalt tanker trailers, heavy haul trailers, and live bottom trailers. These vehicles were manufactured between November 2010 and April 2011 and are equipped with Gunite Automatic Slack Adjusters.
The recall is due to incomplete "knitting" of the iron during the casting process, which can result in inadequate structural integrity of the slack adjuster housing. This defect could cause the housing to break at the handle under normal operating loads or crack under normal braking conditions, potentially leading to a loss of braking and a vehicle crash.
