Plain-English summary
Agility Fuel Systems is recalling certain compressed natural gas (CNG) Fuel Tank Systems manufactured between September 2010 and January 2013. The recall involves a defect where the valve seat can separate from the valve stem, causing the manual tank shutoff valve to become internally stuck in the closed position. This can occur even when the knob indicates that the valve is open.
If the valve is stuck closed, the flow of fuel is blocked from the fuel container to the engine. This condition poses a safety risk to service personnel because there is no safe way to depressurize the fuel system and service the valve when it is stuck. Additionally, the fuel container may become over-pressurized if the stuck valve goes undetected for a period of time or is not repaired in a timely manner, particularly if ambient temperatures increase significantly.
Agility will notify owners, and field personnel will replace the valve seat and stem assembly free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact Agility's customer service at 1-949-236-5520 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
