Agility Fuel Systems Recalls CNG Fuel Systems Due to Pressure Relief Defect
Agility Fuel Systems is recalling certain compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel systems because pressure relief devices may fail to vent pressure, increasing the risk of tank explosion, fire, and injury.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect where a failure could lead to a CNG tank explosion, resulting in significant injury or property damage, which aligns with the 'Severe' criteria.
Plain-English summary
Agility Fuel Systems is recalling certain compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel systems manufactured between August 1, 2014, and June 1, 2015. The affected systems are equipped with pressure relief devices (PRDs) that may not function as designed to vent a buildup of pressure, such as could occur if the CNG tank was exposed to fire.
If the PRD does not activate in the event of a pressure buildup, the CNG tank may explode, increasing the risk of fire and injury. The recall covers specific part numbers including 22989600, 24990722, and 24989800, among others.
Agility will notify owners, and dealers will replace the defective PRDs free of charge. The recall began on August 20, 2015. Owners may contact Agility customer service at 1-949-267-7745 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
