Agility Fuel Systems Recalls CNG Fuel Hoses Due to Corrosion Risk

Agility Fuel Systems is recalling specific CNG fuel systems because a hose component may corrode and leak gas, increasing fire risk.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (fuel system corrosion) that poses a significant risk of fire, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.

Plain-English summary

Agility Fuel Systems is recalling certain model Side-Mount compressed natural gas (CNG) Fuel Systems, Part No. 23736011. These units were manufactured between August 1, 2013, and August 21, 2014, and are equipped with Motion Industries T1700-06 flexible fuel hoses.

The recall is due to a defect where the stainless steel braid reinforcement may corrode prematurely near the fitting crimp inside the slave tank enclosure. If this corrosion progresses and goes undetected, the hose could begin to leak CNG, which increases the risk of a fire in the presence of an ignition source.

Owners should contact Agility customer service at 1-949-236-5520 for information. Dealers will replace the defective hose assemblies free of charge. The recall began on October 20, 2014. Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov.
